The Codebreakers tackle the latest incarnation(s) of the Princess Paradigm this Wednesday, Dec. 10th at 10a Mountain / 9a Pacific / 12p Eastern.
As with many Disney films, Frozen is the story of princesses who live in a world dramatically different from ours. They face hard times, but survive them with pluck and good humor….and the inevitably perfect hair 😉
The emblematic song “Let It Go” has gotten close to a cumulative 1 billion YouTube views (over several versions) and let’s not even mention the multitude of merchandise that is coming out “just in time for the holidays.”
Clearly, there’s something here that resonates with tons of people. But what is it?
Does our desire for happily ever after, rainbows and unicorns, and pretty pink castles help things go viral? Is this because women are making most of the buying decisions, or because today’s parents have a hard time saying “no” in general? Is it harmless and fun, or has the fight for equality between the sexes been undermined by this tradition?
